Runza, Nebraska

Southwest Runza sandwich

the Original Runza sandwich.

So we always try to visit the local hangouts when visiting different states. ..We were told we had to try the restaurant "Runza". What did you say? It took us a bit before we could understand what they were saying. They are located in Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado & Kansas. Now if you are from Michigan and have had a pasties... to me this what I can best say it is very similar too. Or maybe a pot pie sandwich??! Turnover with meat instead of dessert? Have you ever stopped at a Runza? There drive-thru was packed. It was a go-in kind of day, but guess what - the place was packed inside. I am guessing that Nebraska-ians love their Runza!!! no?! Kind of sounds like a local thing, maybe most folks wouldn't be so sure of it, Beth. I'm not much on sandwiches anyway, but this one doesn't look all that great.

It looks good, I imagine maybe like a meat fried pie? We get those at the fairs.
My hubby is from Nebraska and he sure loves them. I can take it or leave it.

Dells Mill, Augusta, Wisconsin

"Dells Mill", in Augusta, Wisconsin ...was a huge learning experience. Gus Clark, the museum guide was so great.

i just went to the website, to share the link with you guys and i see that Gus did pass away. i am trying to check my notes to see when we were there. we were trying to recall the day. my parents anniversary is August 24th. apparently the day he past away. (he was telling us that he did have some health issues, no details, but i thought he looked ok?) he was so cool. he was very descriptive and so fun to listen too. the mill had been in his family for years. he was just like a real history book. such a loss. (i just checked my notes we were there Thurs. 8/21) i hope he knew we enjoyed our visit. we told him so. thanked him for his time & explained we love seeing the odd, the different & the usual places throughout the US.

mills are becoming far and few. sad but true. ) :

Pyramid Lake Resort

We had dinner at "Pyramid Lake Resort". We were camping at the Wapiti campground within Jasper National Park. We were so happy to find the restaurant ...some times we just head thinking we want to find the 1st great looking place to try out. & thankfully this was a great pick, check out these views we got to see while eating this fabulous meal. This meal was one of the best meals we had all of our whole Canadian trip. It was a amazing!! 1. appetizer, 2. I had halibut, 3. hubby had elk, and 4. was the pyramid chocolate yummyness. it was delicious!! Are you now hungry? Beth ( :
