Occoneechee State Park, Clarksville, Virginia

We enjoyed a family reunion on Sunday afternoon of 8/2/2015 & took a night in at "Occoneechee State Park", Clarksville, Virginia. most locals call this lake Buggs Island Lake. We have never kayaked at this lake so it was fun to take in the sights. Lots of wakes thanks to all the big monster boats. I will be sharing the eagle we got to see while on this kayaking ride very soon. stay tuned please.

Please enjoy this video of the evening!! ENJOY!!! Beth ( :

Hello beth, it is a pretty lake and lovely scenic shots. I am not sure if I would want to be in a kayak with monster waves around me. Have a happy Thursday!

And your post previously, New Salem....I remember going through this area in 1968. What a wonderful historical place to spend a day. I received a gift [red ruby glass candy dish] from my hubby that day. Still have it!!!

Dells Mill, Augusta, Wisconsin

"Dells Mill", in Augusta, Wisconsin ...was a huge learning experience. Gus Clark, the museum guide was so great.

i just went to the website, to share the link with you guys and i see that Gus did pass away. i am trying to check my notes to see when we were there. we were trying to recall the day. my parents anniversary is August 24th. apparently the day he past away. (he was telling us that he did have some health issues, no details, but i thought he looked ok?) he was so cool. he was very descriptive and so fun to listen too. the mill had been in his family for years. he was just like a real history book. such a loss. (i just checked my notes we were there Thurs. 8/21) i hope he knew we enjoyed our visit. we told him so. thanked him for his time & explained we love seeing the odd, the different & the usual places throughout the US.

mills are becoming far and few. sad but true. ) :
