"Ausable Point Campground", New York. Let's talk Beth, if you want to get me up early in the AM, something that will make me jump on up early, early, early a gorgeous sunrise. At this campground was a perfect location to catch one. I am not sure what I love more, a sunset or a sunrise. The 2nd shot was sunset. AMAZING!! The hubby & I will be definitely returning to this campground, a major awesome camping spot.

Quiet, just amazing hiking & a great place to enjoy your life!!! Please check out the video.. Beth ( :

Ausable Chasm, New York

"Ausable Chasm", New York. I think a lot of people tend to think of New York as only the NEW YORK CITY, but the state has so much to offer. Amazing must see sights. This is one of those sights.

Our visit was on a very calm day. Only a few visitors. Such an amazing hike too. It's video time. I love looking back at our trips. So fun. If you celebrate Thanksgiving hope it is a day full of turkey all those great trimmings. If it's just a normal chilly fall day you enjoy that too.  Beth ( :

Fillmore Glen State Park, Moravia, New York

"Fillmore Glen State Park", Moravia, New York. Hiking to this waterfall is very close to the campground. If you are not expecting the waterfall you might miss it. The campground has new & very clean restrooms. They have 2 sides to the campground, it was a busy one during the week when we were there.

Check out the video. Beth ( :

Hunting Island State Park, South Carolina

Taking off from our regularly scheduled posts to tell you about a recent trip we took to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. (on 11/17 you can read a life update & all about my November "OwlCrate" unboxing on my other blog "Hike2Forty and beyond") The planned: head to Rice, Texas to pick up our "Casita" 17 Independence Deluxe & enjoy the sights going & coming home. (I'll show ya pics of our "Cozy Casa" soon.) Let me say, I know I have said it before & I will probably say it again soon enough... that when we travel we seem to bring rain with us every where we go, so if you are out there & you want rain give me a call asap!! I am open for booking & a small fee needs to be included. thanks. We took rain to Texas & I hope they were happy about it, We were not happy but we made the best of it. Here's the rain schedule, rained every single day (maybe not constantly but pretty darn close.) but the 1/2 day when we 1st got to Hunting Island, stayed 1 night left in the AM, the 2 days we spent in Big Bend, Texas. We even have had rain when we arrived back at home in VA. WHAT???! You begin to wonder what the sun looks like? I mean come on??! Are we in Ireland or what? A rain forest?

On the way home... worried/concerned about all the recent flooding in South Carolina, wondering if the state park would be there when we arrived? Let me tell ya even though South Carolina is considered the "low country", it stuck it out & has very little damage. Every time we stay at this park we always reserve a spot, it's just always booked up, it's just that great, book a spot months in advance, promise you will LOVE IT!

-- Normally there are a few big tree laying down on the beach as you walk to the lighthouse, but after the recent storms there were tons more trees & limbs. The mosquitoes were nuts!!! If you stayed near the water where all the winds were you were ok. I guess mosquitoes can not fly in wind?

-- 1 is seagull. 1 crane lower below in another pic. Are those wrens, whatever those beach birds are called, darn they can run fast, fly away too quick, I am not fast enough, I try to be super quiet & sneaky, it still doesn't work? nuts, you photography gurus are too cool for me, do you wear camouflage or what?

-- See the sand spider?

-- You may have noticed the picture of me making footprints in the sand (yep, that is 1 of my favorite poems), I had to hoist my pant legs up to walk through the water & the hubby forgot to tell me he took this picture, silly man, & yes, I do stop shaving my legs at the end of October until spring time when I wear skirts or shorts again, don't like it, lump it. HA. ha!! Shaving is overrated any ways, you give up the silly stuff when you are camping. This chick doesn't take life too seriously, I mean come on??! Why worry about it??! Have you ever tried to shave in a campground shower, when you are paying for the shower water? Now if only I could go braless, nope, not going to happen ...I guess I am not that cool. Still to darn shy. I will wear white after labor day, but some thing you just got to put your foot down. I can go without makeup or washing my hair. Ok, ok, I know ..."E" - nough said.

-- Yes, you can walk to the lighthouse from the campground, there's a fee to enter but not the surrounding grounds.

We have stayed in this state park over 5 times, "Hunting Island State Park", South Carolina, one of the greatest state parks in the US that we have ever stayed in. The views are breathtaking & the sounds of the surf are priceless. If I could wake up to that sounds daily I think I would be in heaven. Wait then I would miss my mountains. You can have surf in the mountains, right? Please enjoy the video of the day we were there, the AM taping at the end, we both woke up super early the next morning, hoping for an awesome sunrise, sadly it was cloudy & grey (& yes it did rain, but we are part duck so it's cool, NO WORRIES.) ... but ALL DAYS ARE GOOD WHEN YOU SPEND THEM ON A BEACH, right??!

To all you folks, who read all these bits of info. THANK YOU! We had a lovely 11th wedding anniversary trip, thank you for all the comments, thank you for all the sweet messages, THANK YOU for always stopping by. I love your friendships so so much. Beth ( :

I just found this old video from Hunting Island State Park... maybe 3 or 4 years ago. & there is a sunrise in the AM, unlike this above visit. Please Enjoy! ( :

Buttermilk Falls State Park, New York

"Buttermilk Falls" State Park, Ithaca, New York. Such a gorgeous area. We had our lunch there. What a view. The waterfall is so loud & right within the city. Such a great hiking spot.

Would you please consider watching the video below to see how powerful this waterfall really is ...we got up close & personal while on the hike. Just so you know New York does not do well in calculating the amount of mileage this hike is actually (or what they share on their signage) be prepared to know it is longer than they say kind of hike. We were sweating & totally wishing we had taken water. We know better for next time. Here in Virginia if we say it is 1/2 mile hike, you will darn sure it is a 1/2 mile hike. Maybe they measure different in other state, no clue??! Beth ( :

Taughannock Falls State Park, New York

Robert H. Treman State Park, Ithaca, New York

"Robert H. Treman State Park", Ithaca, New York. Enfield Glen is part of the state park, winding trails follow the gorge, where you have the chance to see 12 waterfalls. If you look at the 1st shot you can see some one in a red shirt ...that is the hiking trail. We ran into rain throughout the whole hike making it very tough not to slip ... those rock trails are not easy to ski on.

"Lucifer Falls", you can see within the 2nd shot, 115 foot tall, was a busy spot, you can see the couple there in the shot, I wanted to get the shot with no one around, but it was sadly not possible. The state park website shows the pool totally full, it is a natural swimming hole. Very cool. We camped at the state park. Please see the video below to get a sense of the powerful waterfalls. Enjoy!!! Beth ( :

hiking at Ricketts Glen State Park, PA

"Ricketts Glen State Park, PA, Natural Area". Lots of waterfalls to be seen on this hike, just a gorgeous hike. If you look at the 1st shot ...those rock steps/stairs at the left of the shot are part of the hike. It is not for the weak. This is a leg/knee workout kind of hike.

Check out the video from the day just below, there are lots of waterfalls, all sorts of size ...i bet it always is changing depending on the recent rain fall. We loved this hike. Are you a hiker? Beth ( :
