Hurricane Ridge, Olympic National Park, Washington



This is a location of pure peace. Quiet when we were there. At the beginning of the day. Not to busy, all fun times that day. Check out those clouds. (the 2nd view was out of the visitors center, giving you an even up higher view of these clouds & mtns.)

If you can tell me why this named "Hurricane Ridge", you will make my day. I am clueless. Don't hurricane happen near water? I can understand why it would be called like wild winds ridge, or something like that??! It is super windy there.  so cold too. My nose hairs were even freezing. COLD!!! Beth ( :

Hello Beth, Hurricane Ridge shaped by the wind and snow. It supposedly has wind gusting up to 75 miles an hour, which leads to the name Hurricane Ridge. When were you there, we went Sept30-Oct 8 2016. We have have just missed you.

"Bar U Ranch" , National Historic Site. Established in 1882, it was huge ranching operation  "even more info here." .  if you know anything about me, you will know I have always wanted to live on a farm, own a farm, have horses, cows, dogs, cats, garden, fields, quiet & peace the whole 9 or is it 10 yards.   Backbone Rock Tunnel, Shady Valley, Tennessee "spur ridge on Holston Mtn that abruptly ends at a bend in Beaverdam Creek. tunnel was drilled through rock in 1901 to allow railroad access between Shady Valley and Damascus, Virginia" Hey There, don't ya love it when you are driving along and find a neat spot? …this tunnel was a busier road, got to see it from both sides of the road ...very cool.
