Lake Moomaw, Covington, Virginia

Real Quick Note: Not sure how 2 posts got scheduled last week, but thanks to all who commented on both, we were camping at Maryland state park, no internet service, meaning now way to change it until we got home on Tuesday last week. We were eating by mosquitoes now stop. Outdoors, in the restrooms, going to the trash, couldn't go kayaking, could even take a bike ride... but we dealt with it and did take 2 long bike rides and did enjoy a few sights. How do folks deal with that a normal basics? WILD TIMES!!! I did mean to post it today... so Let's Get Started!! Have a super fabulous week!! ( ;

"Lake Moomaw", Bolar Mtn., Covington, Virginia. This was our 2nd visit to Lake Moomaw, did you miss our 1st visit? "See here". We were there June 19-21, for a quick long weekend trip. It was such great weather, nice to just get away, a chance to have no internet or phone call. Loved that.

As you can see I had a bit of a time narrowing down the pics. it was just a gorgeous time we had there. We took our kayaks & the hubby's new toy a 2014 Livingston Model LV9, Johnson 8 horse, 2 stroke motor. It is a tiny boat, we both can lift it together to fit in the back of our F150 truck. It is fun to get around in it, folks look at us like what??! We are the smallest boat around. I prefer the kayak, 'cause I can go where I wanna go.

You can see our campsite in several pics. There are several campgrounds within Bolar Mtn./Lake Moomaw area to pick from ...you just can not go wrong. This visit we stayed in campground #1. Last visit we were in campground #2. So peaceful and a chance to just be one with the outside world. If you will take a listen to the vlog below you will hear all sorts of birds, the boat at a part in there as well. Such a fun trip.

Check out my vlog from the day. Do enjoy!!! Thanks, for stopping by. Take care. Beth ( :

Hello Beth, I tend to stay away from places with water when the skeeters are bad. I love your lake photos, very pretty. The little boat is cute. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week ahead!

Kayaking is always fun! So sorry to hear about the mosquitoes in Maryland though! Your story reminds me of camping at McClellan Lake in Texas on our 2010 trip. Most of our stops were so wonderful, but that place had mosquitoes everywhere! They buzzed in through our screens, and we suffered for days. Additionally our campsite neighbors had to play loud music and ride their 4-wheelers while we tried to go to sleep. I guess it's good to have a bad stop every once in a while on trips, to help us appreciate the good stops more! Anyway hope your next trip goes a lot better, and has fewer mosquitoes!

What a beautiful spot to camp. Peaceful indeed.
That isn't too far from us - we should make an effort to visit there.
