Niagara Falls - New York & Canada

Niagara Falls, New York verses Canadian side? Which is your fave? This was our 2nd visit. Our 1st visit to the Canadian side. FUN to see.

I guess to me, what I notice most about the American side the fact that is more nature, where as the Canadian side is more commercial.

Please enjoy the vlog from that day. Here is my thoughts on each of the border crossings ... Canadian - they always want to know will I be taking up a job or whatnot while there? Ok, Canada we were there for maybe 2 hours at the most, how can I get a job that quick? But after watching a show on Netflix all about the Canadian border, I now understand the reason behind asking me about this every time. I get it, now why couldn't they just say that, so silly. American border, they asked us way more ?'s than the Canadian side & we are BORN & RAISED Americans, weird huh? We were walking, not driving. What is the big deal with the border dudes any ways? They wear sunglasses so you can not see their eyes. Weird? Is that suppose to make me nervous? YES, I think so. & let me tell ya it works, I am always concerned they wont't let me back in??! How could you dislike this face? The dudes cologne was very strong, he was cute, ... how do they ever meet any ladies or men??! Thanks, for stopping by today. Have a great day! Beth ( :

probably a lot friendlier border crossing than the southern side of things.

Hello Beth, Niagara Falls is a beautiful place to visit. HUbby and I stayed a night on each side. I agree the Canadian side did seem more commercial. Great photos.
Happy Monday, have a great week!

I grew up about an hour's drive away from the falls, so periodically we'd visit. It's been years since I've been there, and I've never been on the American side.

I recall that a lot of the commercial, carnival aspect of it all got placed over the hillsides away from the falls themselves, unless it's really changed since the last time I was there. I'd recommend if you ever go back, on going downstream to Niagara On The Lake, which is one of the loveliest towns in Canada.

we just recently visited and you are right about the two different sides. the u.s. side is quiet, there is not much to do but it is natural and beautiful. on the Canadian side it is very commercial with lots to do but it is soooooo commercial and very crowded. i will still say the canadian side is better because not everything is commercial, there is a lot to do and see away from the crowds. some favorites were the butterfly house, the white water walk, the floral clock, the areo car...all fun things to do on the canadian side that are not crowded and don't feel commercial!!!

HI Beth. So nice of you to stop over to our side of the falls. :) I've been there decades ago but never to the American side. I'm sure things have gone wacky with commercialism on our side since then but I can't remember much of what it was like then other than beautiful. :) You must have watched that TV show that I watch now and then. It is amazing what people say, do, bring, smuggle across the border! We've learned to only answer their questions and make no further comments as sometimes the guards can be downright intimidating - on both sides. You can't joke around much unless they are used to seeing you often. Have a good week!

It looks LARGE and amazing. I've never been . . maybe someday - BUT, now I know I've seen some, thanks to you.

I would never have guessed the Canadian Side to have more commerce . . . I thought capitalism was a United States "thing."

I have so much to learn - it's good I have you as a blogger chum - and friendly teacher.

love & love,

Not sure how to vote on what side is best. I suppose they are both good for different reasons. I was there in 1970ish and in 1976ish so I'm sure the border crossings were a lot friendlier. I didn't have a passport back then either. I cross the border a lot from Washington State to Canada and I have had many great crossings and very few weird crossings.
