Loretta Lynn's Ranch, Hurricane Mills, Tennessee










"Loretta Lynn's Ranch", 8000 Highway 13 South, Hurricane Mills, Tennessee 37078. I have always loved Loretta Lynn's country style music. She is just a legend ...so I knew when the hubby suggested we stay in her campground, I was super excited. I assumed that when you would be staying at her campground, it would sort of be included in the stay price to see all her treasures and tours. Nope, to see anything of the museum or anything else, you would have to pay even more to see her home, museum or bus, etc. WHAT??!! So we walked around and saw what we could see for free, then headed to the campground. I am a very experienced camper ... I have stayed at really pricey campgrounds and very cheap campgrounds ... so we have been there done that, kind situation. So the price we paid I would have thought the campground would have been in better condition. & it was such a letdown that it was not that great. 

VERY SAD FACE. : (

These shots are great & they were FREE to see. HAPPY DANCE!! You can't pay for everything else days folks, or you would be broke in a second. YOU would think people would get that? ... & understand? Hello, Beth! Looks like a pretty place to visit. It is a shame the tours costed extra. The state parks are very nice here in Florida, I see a lot that have camping available.

We've been past Loretta Lynn's Ranch several times, but have never stopped. I guess we won't in the future, either.

Oh that is too bad Beth....you would think you'd get free admission or at least a good discounted admission for the tour with staying in the campground....I didn't know it was open for tours...I would love to see it...I have seen it featured on a ghost show before...quite interesting...well you got some good photos anyway! Happy New Year!

Hey Elizabeth, I can fully understand your disappointment with the extra costs and not being able to afford it. I've found the same thing true here in VA. I can't believe how much some of the tourist attractions charge for admission! And the plantations are ridiculous!!! My husband treated me to the tour at Shirley Plantation because one of my author friends wrote a book that was set there but other than that, all we've done is the free walking tour of Williamsburg and Fort Monroe. Well, at Ft Monroe you can give a donation at the end so it's whatever you can afford, which is nice. We had a great day touring the fort and picnicking up on the hill at the Jefferson Davis Memorial Park. You can see the Point Comfort Lighthouse and out into the bay. I did go to the old Jamestown archaeological site with family back in the spring. That was super interesting and it was a beautiful day on the river!

"Bar U Ranch" , National Historic Site. Established in 1882, it was huge ranching operation  "even more info here." .  if you know anything about me, you will know I have always wanted to live on a farm, own a farm, have horses, cows, dogs, cats, garden, fields, quiet & peace the whole 9 or is it 10 yards.   Backbone Rock Tunnel, Shady Valley, Tennessee "spur ridge on Holston Mtn that abruptly ends at a bend in Beaverdam Creek. tunnel was drilled through rock in 1901 to allow railroad access between Shady Valley and Damascus, Virginia" Hey There, don't ya love it when you are driving along and find a neat spot? …this tunnel was a busier road, got to see it from both sides of the road ...very cool. "Lincoln's New Salem" , Petersburg, Illinois. Can we just say 1st how difficult it is to spell ILLINOIS. nuts!! I think it is even easier to spell MISSISSIPPI. right??! We were told about this site, thanks to a tour guide in Colorado, he said there is a man who works here that look just like Abe Lincoln himself during his young years. Now if you know anything about me, I LOVE HISTORY. 2nd I love anything Abe Lincoln, he's one of my most favorite presidents ever. So I was super excited to meet this gentleman, do you think he was working the day we visited? nope, any ways... A lovely walk & we had fun seeing all the animals. I wonder why we live in such big homes, this one above shows a nice size home all you need in one little room. Less space, less money to pay each month. Sounds good to me!!!
