Kerr Lake, North Carolina








Hey there!! Thanks for stopping by today, We took a quick getaway over a long weekend in the end of April, 1st day of May to enjoy Kerr Lake Recreation Area County Line Campground. If you know much about that area of southern central of Virginia into North Carolina ...there are several campground put into or near the John H. Kerr Dam & Reservoir ...they had a ton of recent rain so the campground we were going to stay in was not well do all that rain. But this one as you can see had several campsite under water. It is wild to see what water can do. The hubby thought it was funny to be rowing along and see a picnic table under your kayak, hope thing will dry out okay soon enough. 

If you a looking for a great book, check out "The Hale Brothers" by: Kathyrn Andrews... such a great read ...I had a chance to read that series while on this trip. If you are an avid reader like myself, you find the down times to fit in reading. While the hubby is napping, while relaxing and enjoying the view and just enjoying the book outdoors. I love making it a huge experience. So relaxing and fun. ( ;

"Bar U Ranch" , National Historic Site. Established in 1882, it was huge ranching operation  "even more info here." .  if you know anything about me, you will know I have always wanted to live on a farm, own a farm, have horses, cows, dogs, cats, garden, fields, quiet & peace the whole 9 or is it 10 yards.   Backbone Rock Tunnel, Shady Valley, Tennessee "spur ridge on Holston Mtn that abruptly ends at a bend in Beaverdam Creek. tunnel was drilled through rock in 1901 to allow railroad access between Shady Valley and Damascus, Virginia" Hey There, don't ya love it when you are driving along and find a neat spot? …this tunnel was a busier road, got to see it from both sides of the road ...very cool. Lincoln's New Salem, Petersburg, Illinois

"Lincoln's New Salem" , Petersburg, Illinois. Can we just say 1st how difficult it is to spell ILLINOIS. nuts!! I think it is even easier to spell MISSISSIPPI. right??! We were told about this site, thanks to a tour guide in Colorado, he said there is a man who works here that look just like Abe Lincoln himself during his young years. Now if you know anything about me, I LOVE HISTORY. 2nd I love anything Abe Lincoln, he's one of my most favorite presidents ever. So I was super excited to meet this gentleman, do you think he was working the day we visited? nope, any ways... A lovely walk & we had fun seeing all the animals. I wonder why we live in such big homes, this one above shows a nice size home all you need in one little room. Less space, less money to pay each month. Sounds good to me!!!
