"Lake Norman State Park", North Carolina. When I am putting up this post 3/18/017 to publish on 5/1/2017 ... they are controlled burning there at Lake Norman, I always wonder why they don't that more around different parts of states that have issues with burning problems, seems smart if you know what you are doing, etc. A great state park, very cold while we were there, so pretty. Great for tents. Not so much for folks who need their van, RV or whatever level. We had a nightmare of a time getting ours level. So wild!!

When we go kayaking I always wear these shoes that are great for walking on rocks and other slippery surfaces, I 1st wore them when we went to The Narrows in Zion National Park, Utah. Such a great item!! But this day I wore them at Lake Norman I seriously got stuck in the mud while trying to get into my kayak, I hate taking dirt into my kayak 'cause then you have to clean out your kayak.... & draining water from your kayak is not the easiest task ever??! You live and learn. I just took off my shoe, wash it, and left it to dry a bit.... take a look below. hilarious kayakin' times!! I see it was my left shoe ... my foot was a bit cold in the kayak (it was early Nov. 2016 when we took this trip.) Are there always some silly crazy stories to tell about each trip you take?, I can't be the only, right?!?

We have weird things happen just about every time we go anywhere. :)

"Bar U Ranch" , National Historic Site. Established in 1882, it was huge ranching operation  "even more info here." .  if you know anything about me, you will know I have always wanted to live on a farm, own a farm, have horses, cows, dogs, cats, garden, fields, quiet & peace the whole 9 or is it 10 yards.   Backbone Rock Tunnel, Shady Valley, Tennessee "spur ridge on Holston Mtn that abruptly ends at a bend in Beaverdam Creek. tunnel was drilled through rock in 1901 to allow railroad access between Shady Valley and Damascus, Virginia" Hey There, don't ya love it when you are driving along and find a neat spot? …this tunnel was a busier road, got to see it from both sides of the road ...very cool. Lincoln's New Salem, Petersburg, Illinois

"Lincoln's New Salem" , Petersburg, Illinois. Can we just say 1st how difficult it is to spell ILLINOIS. nuts!! I think it is even easier to spell MISSISSIPPI. right??! We were told about this site, thanks to a tour guide in Colorado, he said there is a man who works here that look just like Abe Lincoln himself during his young years. Now if you know anything about me, I LOVE HISTORY. 2nd I love anything Abe Lincoln, he's one of my most favorite presidents ever. So I was super excited to meet this gentleman, do you think he was working the day we visited? nope, any ways... A lovely walk & we had fun seeing all the animals. I wonder why we live in such big homes, this one above shows a nice size home all you need in one little room. Less space, less money to pay each month. Sounds good to me!!!
