Saltville, Virginia


We had a fiberglass rally to go to Friday Oct 29 - Sunday Oct 29, 2017 ...if the hubby had not had to work we would have gotten there earlier. It was such a cold rainy rally. SO COLD!!! We stayed at Hungry Mother State Park, Virginia. If you are looking for a camping please do check that state park, We love it! Our rally host recommended going to "Museum Of The Middle Appalachians, Saltville, Virginia" ...it was so full of Virginia history... not sure I have ever heard so much info about one area of Virginia. I know we are rich in history here in Virginia ...but there is just so many unique items about Saltville, VA that I truly did enjoy this museum. This area is know as: "The Salt Capital of the Confederacy", you can see Ice Age Mammals, artifacts, fossils, If you are an lover of history, the past, historical events, and just a love for learning ...please check this out!




Right down the road is Palmer Grist Mill a replica water powered grist mill. The hubby said let me take your picture... you may ask Beth, why are you showing 3 pics of you? See sometimes when my hubby gets the camera ...he takes so many shots of me and other views, I never know what he is doing, sometime I keep the camera just to take what I wish to take, I think he is done with the shots but NO he is picking on me, wouldn't it be the nice thing to say "HONEY, I am taking your picture, smile??!" At first I smile 'cause I know he is taking my picture, then I stop smiling and just give him the evil eye. LOL!! That flannel shirt was over another shirt, it was just so cold. I wish I had taken my rain boots, my sneakers got wet walking through that grass it was rainy off and now. Thank you for stopping by and enjoying my humor. Have a great day! Take care. I would love to visit this place...and I think the pics of you are cute. I wear a flannel shirt as a jacket half the time in the fall an spring.

"Bar U Ranch" , National Historic Site. Established in 1882, it was huge ranching operation  "even more info here." .  if you know anything about me, you will know I have always wanted to live on a farm, own a farm, have horses, cows, dogs, cats, garden, fields, quiet & peace the whole 9 or is it 10 yards.   Backbone Rock Tunnel, Shady Valley, Tennessee "spur ridge on Holston Mtn that abruptly ends at a bend in Beaverdam Creek. tunnel was drilled through rock in 1901 to allow railroad access between Shady Valley and Damascus, Virginia" Hey There, don't ya love it when you are driving along and find a neat spot? …this tunnel was a busier road, got to see it from both sides of the road ...very cool. Lincoln's New Salem, Petersburg, Illinois

"Lincoln's New Salem" , Petersburg, Illinois. Can we just say 1st how difficult it is to spell ILLINOIS. nuts!! I think it is even easier to spell MISSISSIPPI. right??! We were told about this site, thanks to a tour guide in Colorado, he said there is a man who works here that look just like Abe Lincoln himself during his young years. Now if you know anything about me, I LOVE HISTORY. 2nd I love anything Abe Lincoln, he's one of my most favorite presidents ever. So I was super excited to meet this gentleman, do you think he was working the day we visited? nope, any ways... A lovely walk & we had fun seeing all the animals. I wonder why we live in such big homes, this one above shows a nice size home all you need in one little room. Less space, less money to pay each month. Sounds good to me!!!
