American Sign Museum, Cincinnati, Ohio

American Sign Museum, 1330 Monmouth Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45225,

"What is the American Sign Museum?
The American Sign Museum is dedicated to the art and history of signs and sign making.  The museum is proud to be the largest public museum dedicated to signs in the United States!  Covering more than 100 years of American sign history in 20,000 square feet of indoor space, the museum is a walk through the ages of sign technologies and designs. Some signs, still in their original shipping crates, remain pristine. Others proudly retain a weathered look. The storefront-laden Signs on Main Street display recreates a typical Main Street Any-Town USA, with shop windows full of sign-related artifacts. Current sign artisans have added to Main Street's "look" by creating "distressed" signs to reflect the time period. See if you can tell which signs are which! Look for the revolving sign with its actual bullet hole. Don't miss the Burma Shave sign sequence up above. Enjoy a full-size, reassembled, Mail Pouch barn sign in a room filled with local Cincinnati signs."

I am going to tell ya, I have been on a gazillion museum tours, tours here and tours there. You know how it is wonder why did I spend this money to listen to this tour person go on and on??!! Blah, Blah, Blah, why did my parent, why did my significant other drag me here??! If you ever get the chance to see this tour, I PRAY YOU DO, you'll love it, you will be amazed, surprised, shocked, to see how signs have changed over the years is just truly amazing and fun as well. Where our technology has changed and where it began ... I love that! How we have evolved??! So many pics were taken, you give the hubby the camera and it will go like click, click, click, over and over, AWESOME!!! I hope I found a few that will make you so wanna head there for a visit. SO AWESOMESAUCE! Thank you for stopping by, hope you are well today. Take Care!!! Beth ( ;

Dells Mill, Augusta, Wisconsin

"Dells Mill", in Augusta, Wisconsin ...was a huge learning experience. Gus Clark, the museum guide was so great.

i just went to the website, to share the link with you guys and i see that Gus did pass away. i am trying to check my notes to see when we were there. we were trying to recall the day. my parents anniversary is August 24th. apparently the day he past away. (he was telling us that he did have some health issues, no details, but i thought he looked ok?) he was so cool. he was very descriptive and so fun to listen too. the mill had been in his family for years. he was just like a real history book. such a loss. (i just checked my notes we were there Thurs. 8/21) i hope he knew we enjoyed our visit. we told him so. thanked him for his time & explained we love seeing the odd, the different & the usual places throughout the US.

mills are becoming far and few. sad but true. ) :
