Berry Hill Plantation, South Boston, VA
"Berry Hill Plantation", also known simply as Berry Hill, is a historic plantation located on the west side of South Boston in Halifax County, Virginia, United States. The main house, transformed c. 1839 into one of Virginia's finest examples of Greek Revival architecture, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1969. The surviving portion of the plantation, which was once one of the largest in the state, is now a conference and event center.
I was super lucky to get to go with my Mom to her cousin's 80th birthday party at "Berry Hill Resort". Now let me give ya the details... My Mom and I were so excited. You see not to long ago maybe 4 or 5 years ago, we drove to the Biltmore Estates and viewed the Downton Abbey showing. Sadly you could not take pics of the outfits, so there are only flowers, the home outside and the inn we stayed in. Biltmore Estate, Biltmore Blooms, & Inn Views.
We left one rainy Friday and returned on Sunday. The party was held in the maroon pinkish room. We got a tour of the plantation home from a man that has worked for the resort for many a year. So fun to hear the history of the home (it's multiple owners) and is supposedly haunted. We had a dinner the evening of the party with just a small group of us, learning that the waiter (& his girlfriend who also works there) had also had several ghostly experiences??! Do you believe in ghosts? I'll be sharing a bunch of those views over the next few weeks. ENJOY!! I appreciate your comments. See ya again real soon. Have a great day!!! Beth ( ;
