(this sign is posted outside of the church, figured I would share the words...)
At the peak of the winter season the community of Jekyll Island Club was at time rather large - and it quickly outgrew its original chapel. In the new chapel not only the members worshiped, but employees and guests were also found among the choir and congregation.

 Only the Club family enjoyed a wedding at Faith Chapel, but many employees used the chapel for weddings. Several baptisms and even a few funerals were held in the church.

It was not open for visitors ...it was under construction / repair? I was so curious, what is that statement? "curiosity kills the cat" ... will it about killed Beth?? I did google it ...and what a beauty, the ceiling, would have been so cool 2 see, how horrible to not get to see it in person when we were right there??! I'm happy to see what it was like, thanks you the folks who added their pics online? I am not sure if they were (or are) going to try to save it, or what? ((If you are curious as well, please go to the google and look it up, I am guessing they are just individuals' photos and google has all piled them together??!)) There were no signs saying what was happening? Just that it was under construction and u were not allowed in!!! Thank you for stopping by today. Hope you did enjoy your visit. I've been to Jekyll Island many times, as I grew up not far from Savannah. Jekyll is one of my favorite places, as is St. Simon's Island. There's so much beauty and history there. I enjoyed your post very much, Liz!

I agree, really odd seeing gargoyles on a building like this. Don't you hate when you can't see inside!! Happened this week to us, had a fleeting thought I should go back on a Sunday...

"Bar U Ranch" , National Historic Site.   Backbone Rock Tunnel, Shady Valley, Tennessee "spur ridge on Holston Mtn that abruptly ends at a bend in Beaverdam Creek. tunnel was drilled through rock in 1901 to allow railroad access between Shady Valley and Damascus, Virginia" Hey There, don't ya love it when you are driving along and find a neat spot? …this tunnel was a busier road, got to see it from both sides of the road ...very cool. Lincoln's New Salem, Petersburg, Illinois

"Lincoln's New Salem" , Petersburg, Illinois. Can we just say 1st how difficult it is to spell ILLINOIS. nuts!! I think it is even easier to spell MISSISSIPPI. right??! We were told about this site, thanks to a tour guide in Colorado, he said there is a man who works here that look just like Abe Lincoln himself during his young years. Now if you know anything about me, I LOVE HISTORY. 2nd I love anything Abe Lincoln, he's one of my most favorite presidents ever. So I was super excited to meet this gentleman, do you think he was working the day we visited? nope, any ways... A lovely walk & we had fun seeing all the animals. I wonder why we live in such big homes, this one above shows a nice size home all you need in one little room. Less space, less money to pay each month. Sounds good to me!!!
