Motor Mill, Elkader, Iowa

Motor Mill, Elkader, IA. 52043

Let's see that mill ...I wonder why folks don't get the history behind these amazing pieces of architecture. I know we have moved forward in technology ...but come on folks these places need to be preserved. Take care of and remembered. I wonder why so many folks of a younger age don't think about where we have come from and know it is meant to be honored and preserved. I wish I could come up with a better word than "preserved" but that is what keeps popping into my mind at the moment of typing up this post. Think of men (I don't believe the ladies did this work, but if they did ... THANK YOU!) did most of the work and it is just amazing. Such history. Thanks, for stopping by today. Hope you are well. Take Care. Beth ( ;

You are so right. We need to preserve our heritage, even as we move forward.

Mills were high tech in their time. I was told that there was one within three miles of most people, so they could walk there.

Dells Mill, Augusta, Wisconsin

"Dells Mill", in Augusta, Wisconsin ...was a huge learning experience. Gus Clark, the museum guide was so great.

i just went to the website, to share the link with you guys and i see that Gus did pass away. i am trying to check my notes to see when we were there. we were trying to recall the day. my parents anniversary is August 24th. apparently the day he past away. (he was telling us that he did have some health issues, no details, but i thought he looked ok?) he was so cool. he was very descriptive and so fun to listen too. the mill had been in his family for years. he was just like a real history book. such a loss. (i just checked my notes we were there Thurs. 8/21) i hope he knew we enjoyed our visit. we told him so. thanked him for his time & explained we love seeing the odd, the different & the usual places throughout the US.

mills are becoming far and few. sad but true. ) :

Pyramid Lake Resort

We had dinner at "Pyramid Lake Resort". We were camping at the Wapiti campground within Jasper National Park. We were so happy to find the restaurant ...some times we just head thinking we want to find the 1st great looking place to try out. & thankfully this was a great pick, check out these views we got to see while eating this fabulous meal. This meal was one of the best meals we had all of our whole Canadian trip. It was a amazing!! 1. appetizer, 2. I had halibut, 3. hubby had elk, and 4. was the pyramid chocolate yummyness. it was delicious!! Are you now hungry? Beth ( :
