"Founded in 1957 to protect the view from Mount Vernon across the Potomac River, the Accokeek Foundation, an educational nonprofit, became one of the nation's first land trusts. Today, the Foundation stewards 200 hundred acres of Piscataway National Park in Accokeek, MD, where visitors can hike a network of trails winding through wetlands, visit a native tree arboretum, and observe an award-wining forest restoration project. The newly reconstructed boat dock offers stunning views of Mount Vernon and allows visitors to arrive by passenger boat and kayakers to access the Potomac via newly installed kayak launches The Foundation also runs the National Colonial Farm, a living history museum that depicts a Maryland middle-class family farm" ((for more info please see here: https://www.nps.gov/pisc/planyourvisit/ncf.htm))

Hey there, look ya there ...a friendly pig, or hungry one? So cute!! I am not an expert on critters, but those horned cows, I am sure there is a more proper name for them? Maybe u know??! ... were very warm, they were seeking shade behind the barn and it made you wonder what they were thinking? Do animals understand WHY we humans talk to them??! WHAT? makes you wonder??! RIGHT?! I know were were warm, guess they need a bigger barn for bigger shade? Hope you are well. Thanks, for stopping by today!! Take Care, Beth ( ;

The horns looked odd to me too. Maybe it is an uncommon breed? The pig looks lonely. :(

I have no name for those cows, but I know that I would not want to get too close to those horns.

The cows are different from what you'd normally expect.

This is a place I would like to visit...as are most of the place you show. Oh, well, this will not happen. I don't know what kind of cows those are...

I'd like to go there too. Years ago I visited with an archaeology group but the park was not fully developed yet.
