Strataca Kansas Underground Salt Museum

Strataca Kansas Underground Salt Museum

I'll start out with that being underground, I don't mind visiting but I can not imagine doing it for a job ...on the daily? I would really miss the light and seeing the outdoors throughout the day or on breaks. What do you think? & pictures are not that great ...I had to go through and weed out some very blurry views. I hope these will give you a great idea of what you will see and enjoy. Very educational and fun. It was neat ...you do ride an elevator down into the mine ...to me you don't really notice the feeling (you might need to pop your ears, but nothing that dramatic??!) or air until you go back up ...it is like a real blowing affect there. You can feel it and hear it, Very wild!!!

The rusty like saw machinery was to cut into the mine wall, I find folks who do this kind of work really are amazing hard working folks ...just so interesting to see. I would highly recommend seeing this museum, very, very, very cool!! All the vehicles you did see have been there for years ...the salt is not good for vehicles. I couldn't get a picture of the one that was there the longest ...it was really messed up and is not used any more. I guess salt is not great for everything ...you know how meat is cured.

If you notice "Dorothy", that's a movie prop from the movie "Twister" with so many great actors in it, you should so totally see it, I think it was out in the early 90's. Loved it!!! So good, about chasing twisters. I can not believe people actually will chase them and see what the wind speeds are and so forth??! You either think ...wow that seems very brave, or wow, that seems really, really, really DUMB??! Thank you for stopping by today. Hope you are well. Be Well & Be Blessed!!! Beth ( ;

I really don't think I could work underground and remain somewhat sane. A little tidbit of info about me. I would love to go chasing after tornados.There is just something about that this I find exciting. Now, I won't likely ever do that seriously. I'm getting too old for that kind of stuff, but I can still dream.

This is rather interesting. My brother is a mine manager (gold) in northern Ontario. He doesn't seem to mind it. Not me, though.
