Boone Hall Plantation












I would recommend this plantation to tour "Boone Hall Plantation" while visiting in the Charleston, SC area ...we were there in Nov 2019 ...why you might ask? Gorgeous gardens, home, lovely area of SC and just so fun to see. I really enjoy the tour guide we did have, her gorgeous dress, can you imagine wearing one of those puffy dress, getting around and wow, how did those ladies do it? I guess they didn't work to hard, huh??! One funny item I recall from the tour ...did u know? "The servants when bringing the food from the kitchen (not in the home during that time era) to the table for dinner, would have to HUSH THOSE PUPPIES, they were hoping they would drop something for them to eat and enjoy ...how they got the name "hushpuppies" ???! Have u ever heard that one? They are just delicious!! I really enjoy them with a bit of butter, kind of like when I eat a slice of homemade bread. ((Hush puppies are a favorite part of Southern cuisine and are traditionally served with fried catfish)) Gorgeous blooms, Thankful they were around when we did visit. SO SO PRETTY!! I will chat next time about a plantation I would say is probably my All Time Favorite Plantation ever!!!

We've been to Boone Hall a couple of times. It's also beautiful in the Spring with the azaleas in bloom.

We enjoyed this tour and a couple of other plantations when we visited Charleston and surroundings. ... there’s a lot of history in that area for sure, not all of it joyful by any means, , but all of it important to remember. Southern flowers are just so lush and beautiful! Thanks for sharing and for the memories! (We visited this area several times as our granddaughters husband was stationed there (Air Force).

"Bar U Ranch" , National Historic Site. Established in 1882, it was huge ranching operation  "even more info here." .  if you know anything about me, you will know I have always wanted to live on a farm, own a farm, have horses, cows, dogs, cats, garden, fields, quiet & peace the whole 9 or is it 10 yards.   Backbone Rock Tunnel, Shady Valley, Tennessee "spur ridge on Holston Mtn that abruptly ends at a bend in Beaverdam Creek. tunnel was drilled through rock in 1901 to allow railroad access between Shady Valley and Damascus, Virginia" Hey There, don't ya love it when you are driving along and find a neat spot? …this tunnel was a busier road, got to see it from both sides of the road ...very cool.
