Edisto Beach State Park, SC

Are you a beach fan? We tend to go during the cooler months ...usually to celebrate our wedding anniversary in November. Walking on the beach during those cool moments, with not that many folks around is just so peaceful. Perfect. Our favorite state park in South Carolina was Hunting Island State Park "post 1" & "post 2". With all the recent hurricanes that have brought such destruction to that state park, the campground we did stay in is completely gone, we have yet to see what is left ...but we have heard that they made into a day use area. So sad to know it is completely gone! What we did enjoy about this state park it is similar in the "water front camping feel" but it is just not Hunting Island SP! Not sure if you have never found a spot that just stays in your heart and you just love it to pieces??! We were there late Nov 2019. Are you a shell keeper ...as I have gotten older I don't take them, I like to think that there are kids or older folks out there who might not have ever seen a whole shell, so I want them to find them. I can live without. I saw a camper who was drying out "sand dollars" ...I wish to report ...I have never seen a full - in one piece SAND DOLLAR ever ...like I mean picked one up and said "Look Ya There" now that would be cool, I think you have to be up early and search for them??! Now I am not saying that others should or shouldn't collect shells, I am just saying what I prefer to do. Thank you for stopping by. Hope you are well today. Be Well & Blessed!! Beth ( ;

I love beaches, expecially in the shoulder seasons. They are so quiet. Take care!

I enjoy your beach photos. Living smack in the middle of the prairies, beaches are all manmade. I am not a water person, so these beaches hold no appeal to me. A natural, ocean beach would be fun to walk along.

Like Ruth, I am not a water person. But your third photo is gorgeous!

Hello, Beth

I do love the beaches. I am sorry your favorite campground was destroyed in the hurricane. I have a shell collection from collecting years ago, but I leave the shells I see now. It is shame that people are taking the live shells, like the sand dollars. Take care, stay safe! Have a great new week!

i am a beach worshiper and like you, visit during the off season. i don't enjoy the summer crowds...

i have collected shells and sea glass my entire life, i have heard that the SC beaches don't have sea glass!!!
Perfection. We’ve been to that beautiful beach. Our granddaughter and her husband lived near Charleston for several years and we visited them pretty often (staying in our RV) ... so much history (I enjoyed your Plantation post above) and the beaches are stunning.
