Homeplace 1850's Working Farm

Homeplace 1850s Working Farm, 4512 The Trace, Dover, TN

"Represents a two-generation farm. Interpreters in period clothing going about their daily chores. Artifacts, restored historic structures, and traditional seasonal activities to step you back in time to relive history before the Civil War."

This really was a gorgeous area of Tennessee to see, what a great day. It was warm, but not too bad in the shade. Lots of critters, the crowds were slow ...nice walk about. This there a time era you do enjoy the most? Would you be able to cut it in olden days? A bath once a year, or was it a month? No toothbrush? Lots more physical demanding work? Dealing with your horses, chicken and pigs? (Some of you might have a farm any way, so this might be normal to you?) We were there Oct. 2019. Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you are well. Take Care! Be Well & Be Blessed!! Beth ( ;

Hello,

Wonderful photos of the working farm. I would enjoy seeing the critters. I am wondering, have you been traveling lately, or stay at home. Hubby and I miss traveling, I hope everything settles down and it is safe to travel. Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!

what cool spot, i like touring old places like this. there is an old village nearby here that we visit, you are not allowed to take pictures in the old buildings, i don't know why!!

i can't imagine living the way they did, a shower every day, brushing my teeth 3 times a day....it's all so common and necessary to me!!! have a nice sunday!!

I like to visit these old places and see how it was done, but I most definitely am thankful to have the modern conveniences. We lived pretty simply when I was a child, but that is in the past.

I'm saving this and putting it on my list!! Things were definitely harder then!
It’s really good to be reminded of how hard people’s lives were back then. I really need to be reminded right now of what we have to be grateful about .

Dells Mill, Augusta, Wisconsin

"Dells Mill", in Augusta, Wisconsin ...was a huge learning experience. Gus Clark, the museum guide was so great.

i just went to the website, to share the link with you guys and i see that Gus did pass away. i am trying to check my notes to see when we were there. we were trying to recall the day. my parents anniversary is August 24th. apparently the day he past away. (he was telling us that he did have some health issues, no details, but i thought he looked ok?) he was so cool. he was very descriptive and so fun to listen too. the mill had been in his family for years. he was just like a real history book. such a loss. (i just checked my notes we were there Thurs. 8/21) i hope he knew we enjoyed our visit. we told him so. thanked him for his time & explained we love seeing the odd, the different & the usual places throughout the US.
