My hubby did some great work here, he took these with his Android cell phone, way cool, don't ya think??! I do!!! The first one is my new laptop screen savor. We took a drive back in early July 2020, more pictures from that day I will share soon, I wanted to space them out a bit!!

"Station House Museum
This Chesapeake & Ohio Railway Station was in use at Stapleton in Amherst County, VA from 1898 until 1937. It is the only remaining C&O "Standard Station" of its size and style. 

In 1999-2001 the badly-deteriorated Station was dismantled board-by-board and reconstructed here to interpret the importance of railroads in the history of Lynchburg. Through employment, war, and accident, thousand of people buried in this cemetery lived and died by the railroad.

The furnishings and instruments in the Station Agent, Passenger, and Baggage Rooms are typical of the World War 1 era."

I love it! It is very similar to the station in Marlinton, WV but Marlinton's is longer. (See it on my post at https://webcroft.blogspot.com/2015/06/main-street-marlinton.html)

  Backbone Rock Tunnel, Shady Valley, Tennessee "spur ridge on Holston Mtn that abruptly ends at a bend in Beaverdam Creek. tunnel was drilled through rock in 1901 to allow railroad access between Shady Valley and Damascus, Virginia" Hey There, don't ya love it when you are driving along and find a neat spot? …this tunnel was a busier road, got to see it from both sides of the road ...very cool. "Lincoln's New Salem" , Petersburg, Illinois. Can we just say 1st how difficult it is to spell ILLINOIS. nuts!! I think it is even easier to spell MISSISSIPPI. right??! We were told about this site, thanks to a tour guide in Colorado, he said there is a man who works here that look just like Abe Lincoln himself during his young years. Now if you know anything about me, I LOVE HISTORY. 2nd I love anything Abe Lincoln, he's one of my most favorite presidents ever. So I was super excited to meet this gentleman, do you think he was working the day we visited? nope, any ways... A lovely walk & we had fun seeing all the animals. I wonder why we live in such big homes, this one above shows a nice size home all you need in one little room. Less space, less money to pay each month. Sounds good to me!!!
