Jerry Sullivan's Mill, Standardsville, VA

Jerry Sullivan's Mill, Standardsville, VA

This was recently added "Virginia Historical Mill Register" (not sure of the correct name, this is just a guess.) We had visited "Village of Graves Mill", and chatted with the caretaker and he had recommended this mill to see that it has been recently added to that historical registry. I don't believe we have seen too many RED grist mills ... only a rare few. What about you? Thank you for stopping by today!! Hope you are well. Take Care. Beth ( ;

Oh, I've been to Stanardsville but was not aware of this mill. We don't see many wooden grist mills. They don't last as long as stone mills, and many of them burned down. Thanks for sharing.

Dells Mill, Augusta, Wisconsin

"Dells Mill" , in Augusta, Wisconsin ...was a huge learning experience. Gus Clark, the museum guide was so great. i just went to the website, to share the link with you guys and i see that Gus did pass away. i am trying to check my notes to see when we were there. we were trying to recall the day. my parents anniversary is August 24th. apparently the day he past away. (he was telling us that he did have some health issues, no details, but i thought he looked ok?) he was so cool. he was very descriptive and so fun to listen too. the mill had been in his family for years. he was just like a real history book. such a loss. (i just checked my notes we were there Thurs. 8/21) i hope he knew we enjoyed our visit. we told him so. thanked him for his time & explained we love seeing the odd, the different & the usual places throughout the US. mills are becoming far and few. sad but true. ) : i wonder who will take over the mill? he was having issues wi

I had halibut, 3. hubby had elk, and 4. was the pyramid chocolate yummyness. it was delicious!! Are you now hungry? Beth ( :
