The hubby has always wished to stop at this beauty for years now ...so he made it happen in March 2022, when he had a back appointment. They do sell local items, if you might be in love with "maple syrup"??!! We love it. Have not been to the Maple Festival in years though. I know we did go when i was in elementary school. It was always such a big deal, brought in a HUGE crowds. Great food, great folks and fun crafts. If you might be in the Monterey, Virginia area for the "Maple Festival" in 2023, it will be held on March 11 - 12 and 18 - 19, 2023. Wonderful shots of the interior of the old store...complete with it's wood floors and shelves, and the little stove out there where they guys could sit around it during winter days. Farmers have a lot of time on their hands in February! That is unless they are maple syrup makers!

Lovely pictures. We are right at festival time in two local towns. We have not been able to have any for the last two years, so I’m really looking forward to them.

"Bar U Ranch" , National Historic Site. Established in 1882, it was huge ranching operation  "even more info here." .  if you know anything about me, you will know I have always wanted to live on a farm, own a farm, have horses, cows, dogs, cats, garden, fields, quiet & peace the whole 9 or is it 10 yards.   Backbone Rock Tunnel, Shady Valley, Tennessee "spur ridge on Holston Mtn that abruptly ends at a bend in Beaverdam Creek. tunnel was drilled through rock in 1901 to allow railroad access between Shady Valley and Damascus, Virginia" Hey There, don't ya love it when you are driving along and find a neat spot? …this tunnel was a busier road, got to see it from both sides of the road ...very cool.
