Chittenango Falls

















 Chittenango Falls State Park, Cazenovia, New York

167-foot waterfall, Madison County, cascades over 400-million-year-old bedrock.

on a sign seen within the park: "The Chittenango ovate amber snail, discovered here in 1905, is found nowhere else on earth. Trampling by park users, unaware of it existence, was a major factor affecting the snail's survival. Access into the snail's habitat is now very restricted, but it is uncertain whether this species will survive or fade into extinction."

Violet #60 really enjoyed her visit to this state park with us, we always take traveling sheep with us on each and every journey. So fun to pick a few to go with us. This time it was 3 ladies: Val, Cilantro and Violet. Just a gorgeous area, perfect sunny kind of day. I lovely hiking state park, so fun to check it out. "Bar U Ranch" , National Historic Site. Established in 1882, it was huge ranching operation  "even more info here." .  if you know anything about me, you will know I have always wanted to live on a farm, own a farm, have horses, cows, dogs, cats, garden, fields, quiet & peace the whole 9 or is it 10 yards. I want a mountain view like in the movie "Legend of the Fall" .  so when we got the chance to visit this location I really enjoyed seeing how the ranchers came in a took over the whole ranching/cattle business. it was hard work, long hours but if you had the right team you would do just fine. the shot over the campfire is a pot of coffee & hot water. the lady, let me see, i think her name was Greta, that could so be wrong but it is what is popping in my head this moment. she was great at telling the story. these men would all do different jobs. the chef would run with all his team ahead of the folks to set up and get

  Backbone Rock Tunnel, Shady Valley, Tennessee "spur ridge on Holston Mtn that abruptly ends at a bend in Beaverdam Creek. tunnel was drilled through rock in 1901 to allow railroad access between Shady Valley and Damascus, Virginia" Hey There, don't ya love it when you are driving along and find a neat spot? …this tunnel was a busier road, got to see it from both sides of the road ...very cool. Bass Pro Shop, "Memphis Pyramid", in Tennessee. We always enjoy visiting Brass Pro Shops around the USA. They are so always so creative, all different and interesting to see what they will be sharing. We are not fisher people. we just can appreciate the business. All sorts of games to play. Shopping. Lodging. Restaurants. In the brochure you can get at the front door this quote can be seen... "Ride the tallest freestanding elevator in America. Experience a ride to the top of the Pyramid in the 28-story glass elevator. Once you are at the top, stand on glass-floored observation decks that offer 360-degree views 300 feet above Memphis and the Mississippi River."
