Hagood Mill, SC

"Prater's Creek Bridge (plague by the bridge)

Built by the Greenville Steel & Foundry Company in 1930, this bridge served the people of Pickens County for over seventy years at two locations. It was originally installed over the Twelve Mile River on Wolf Creek Road and moved in the late 1900's to Praters Creek on Morning Side Drive. Brought here in 2007, the bridge was cleaned by volunteers, painted by county inmates and installed by Pickens County Roads & Bridges in 2009. Steel bridges like this were common all across the county in the last century but were gradually replaced because they were too narrow for two cars to pass each other."

Prehistoric Rock Carving  (on a plague)

---

Hagood Mill was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. In 2003 prehistoric Native American rock carvings, called petroglyphs and long buried under a 19th century road, were discovered here and preserved in place. They feature 17 human figures and other carvings, and are among the most significant of their kind in S.C.

So visiting this mill, we had this black cat following us everywhere, it was so wild. NO CLUE, whether he (she) didn't like us? Wishing for attention? or What??!?! Are you a cat fan, I'm often kind of shy and don't know about them, they seem to have a mind of their own. Have a super great day. Thank you so kindly for your visit ...have a smiley kind of day.
