E. Lizard Breath Travels

"Oark General Store" Oark, Arkansas. We had lunch there, going on pure memory, 'cause, silly me didn't write it down, & I could have swore we took pics of the food? but they are no where to be found, just these?!? 2 HUGE burgers, fries, onion rings, & 2 pieces of pie to go ... 1 buttermilk and 1 other kind of pie, thinking cherry, but the buttermilk was so different that really sticks out. Just delicious, very tasty. Almost forgot my t-shirt I got as a souvenir. This great restaurant has such character, rural area, quiet ... kind of like Cheers, "Where everybody knows your name" kind of place... all of local dudes were there gossiping hanging out on the front porch, around their truck, shooting the breeze. & They say women talk to much, ha. ha??!?!  ( :

I was going through my notes trying to recall the name of this lake & I didn't write it any where in my notes, I had to do a bit of googling ... "Lake Bailey", there within Petit Jean State Park, Morrilton, Arkansas. Such a gorgeous evening, the sunset was just outstanding. I took lots of pics, narrowing it down was really tough.

This was our 2nd trip to this state park, such an amazing part of Arkansas, Petit Jean State Park, Morrilton, Arkansas. I really enjoy hiking throughout the park, so many different trails to see & enjoy!!! It was kind of an overcast day, moments of rain, slight wind or breeze. It was kind of not the greatest for photo taking. Hope it will look ok though?

Ok, I have to ask ...I know this state park is on the Mississippi River, but it's not in Mississippi, it's in Arkansas? Am I the only one that was like, what??! Very odd state park ...let me explain please. You are driving through not the best of area, & it becomes more rural. Including more trees and grass, suddenly the state park with this huge set of buildings. Which include the Visitor Center, restrooms, conference rooms, etc. etc. Not sure why it is all there, but the landscaping is very nice?

I finally found the info. online ...was trying to recall if it was an Army Corps of Engineers park or state park?
...the hubby & I often joke... We assume that engineers are suppose to be smart, they are paid the big bucks to design things in perfect condition. Or at least plan them in a smart way, right? I must say that each Corps park we stay in ...they are always items we would change or make better. 
This is Defeated Creek Campground & yes it is a Army Corps of Engineer park.

Great Allegheny Passage, stayed at Ohiopyle State Park, Pennsylvania. We rode our bikes from Ohiopyle to Confluence. It's similar to the Virginia Creeper Trail, here in Virginia.

The year has been the year of kayaking. When I take pics every time I grab my camera, I think to myself, well this be a shot I wanna share with my family and friends on our Christmas card this year? I usually take a few scenes ... & hopefully one of the hubby and myself included in there as well. This year ...I have tons of kayaking shots. No hubby/myself pics though? Oh well, it might be a year of kayaking views only??!

Where we stayed: Point Lookout State Park, Maryland

Fort Lincoln, located within Point Lookout State Park. The only original part that is still at the location is the white barrier wall, all buildings are new, I guess the weather and winds are rough on fort. 

Here is a vlog from that day of the sunset view from the state park & a coastline view from Fort Lincoln. I can so see why the fort was so in needs of repair, the winds there are so violent.

I will say that Maryland has pretty tough lighthouses to get to up close, usually you can get better shots, instead of through fences and all that jazz, but at least you can sort of see them? I was going to do 2 separate posts for this camping trip but it was only very quick weekend trip back in July of this year. Enjoy the vlogs from that day. We had a ball, such a great trip!!
1st part was our hike on Wilburn Ridge. 2nd day was our bike trip on the VA Creeper Trail. I think one of the most uncomfortable parts of the trip is riding in a huge van with people you have not a clue who they are... you just know that you are going to all be riding the trail. They van you up the mtn & you bike back to Damascus, VA. It is a 17 mile bike trip. Very easy. Not too much work at all.
One of our favorite state parks to camp at in VA is "Grayson Highlands State Park". We love this area 'cause you have the opportunity to bike the "Virginia Creeper Trail". Niagara Falls, New York verses Canadian side? Which is your fave? This was our 2nd visit. Our 1st visit to the Canadian side. FUN to see. 

I guess to me, what I notice most about the American side the fact that is more nature, where as the Canadian side is more commercial.

Ok, Canada we were there for maybe 2 hours at the most, how can I get a job that quick? But after watching a show on Netflix all about the Canadian border, I now understand the reason behind asking me about this every time. I get it, now why couldn't they just say that, so silly. American border, they asked us way more ?'s than the Canadian side & we are BORN & RAISED Americans, weird huh? We were walking, not driving. What is the big deal with the border dudes any ways? Before we get into the good amazing pics I am going to share today ... let me talk a bit of every day life ... what has been happening with me. The hubby and I went on a trip over 2 wks ago ...to enjoy a Casita rally in Arkansas, was hoping for cooler temps. It was a real ball. Met lots of new friends and got to see some super awesome buddies. I had gone all summer not seeing in copperheads and was super happy about that ... was hoping my go for copper was going well ... well during that rally i got to see one and then came home to start my yearly fall chore of raking leaves and there was one to greet me. LUCKY ME. not!!! All good ... life goes on ... but Let me tell ya it was not fun.

How come we have not heard much about the gas leak in Alabama recently ... it did affect us while traveling home through Nashville ...scared the pooh out of me ... I was wondering if we would make it home. Apparently it will only affect southern Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama ... I might …
