Fort Clinch, Florida

  Fort Clinch State Park, Florida 2601 Atlantic Ave, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 This site was first fortified in 1736 by the Spanish, when they held colonies in Florida. From 1736, various nations to control the territory have garrisoned and fortified this site to protect the entrance to the St. Marys River and Cumberland Sound. After the end of the Second Seminole War, the United States started construction of a fort, later named Fort Clinch, in 1847. It was part of its Third System of coastal defenses conceived earlier in the century, which guided fortifications throughout this period. The fortified compound is pentagonal in shape, with both inner and outer walls, and consists of almost five million bricks. There are corner bastions and embrasures in the outer walls and several structures in the interior courtyards, including a two-story barracks. Berry Hill Resort, South Boston, VA

Hey There!! This is the 3 and final post about Berry Hill ..today I will focus on the resort section. It is just a quick walk to the plantation.  That's the point of what makes Berry Hill great for folks who love talking walks it is a chance to enjoy the property ...runner, walkers, athletes, movers and groovers, y'all will love this!!!  You can see that the views do change ...some rainy views are from our arrival on Friday and then Saturday into Sunday was the best days for pics ...so sunny and more happy. They do have a pool, there is also a spa (including massages, pedicures and manicures, etc.) if you make arrangement to see them. Do enjoy. "Berry Hill Plantation" , also known simply as Berry Hill, is a historic plantation located on the west side of South Boston in Halifax County, Virginia, United States. The main house, transformed c. 1839 into one of Virginia's finest examples of Greek Revival architecture, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1969. The surviving portion of the plantation, which was once one of the largest in the state, is now a conference and event center. I was super lucky to get to go with my Mom to her cousin's 80th birthday party at "Berry Hill Resort" . Now let me give ya the details... My Mom and I were so excited. You see not to long ago maybe 4 or 5 years ago, we drove to the Biltmore Estates and viewed the Downton Abbey showing.
