Carter's General Store, VA

Image
  Carter's General Store 6376 Bedford Hwy, Lynch Station, VA. 24571 (434) 309-1753 Built in 1880's. Located near Leesville, VA. My hubby couldn't get over how sweet all the ladies who were cooking all the goodies were ...finding KIND folks is always a plus. My hubs is a sucker for nostalgic days kind of items ...this story had a bunch of them. Good to step back in the good ole' days!! We got some dumplin soup (chicken, veggies and such a warming soup, would have been great if it was a cold day, I needed the recipe. Love trying new soups.) and a thick cut bologna sandwich. Both were so good. Yummy, good. Thanks, for stopping by today. Hope you are well. Take Care. Beth ( ;

  1481 Mount Jefferson State Park Road, West Jefferson, NC 28694 https://www.ncparks.gov/state-parks/mount-jefferson-state-natural-area "northwestern corner of NC along border of Tennessee and Virginia. Mtn peaks can be seen from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Named after Thomas Jefferson and his father Peter, who owned land in this area in the 1700s, rise 4,683..." Sure would have enjoyed seeing this view when Jefferson did, can you imagine ...certain no Walmart, Lowe's or other shopping locations in those views, I am for sure about that ... Lol!! What a rainy day it was, but we got to see this amazing view. So gorgeous. It is a free visit, no charge. We would have gone hiking that day, but in the rain, that was a pass. We saw a lot of great views on this quick 4-day trip away from our home in late March, early April 2023. So fun!! Take Care. Beth ( ;

  Ashe County Cheese 106 E Main Street, West Jefferson, NC 28694 (800) 445-1378 https://www.ashecountycheese.com/ "...oldest cheese plant, producing quality cheese since 1930... " Hey there, how are you this week? Are you a cheese fan? What's your favorite? American? Coby? Cheddar? Swiss? Gouda? When we took a trip this area of "Jefferson", they were not making any cheese. It was a rainy day, so perfect for window shopping or drooling over yummy goodness. lol!! We didn't ask, but curious how often they are working in the cheese factory? Aren't those cows so fun, great idea to camouflage, some boring looking tanks ...wonder how often they update them?? So cute!! Be sure to add this stop to your travel itinerary if in the area and lover of all things cheese. Take Care. Beth ( ;

Moravian Falls, NC

Image
  "...Foothills of the Brushy Mtns. Settled by the Owen family in about 1750. 1754 Moravian Church purchased 9000 acres of the land. Today the waterfalls is a local tourist attraction... " "Wilkes County, N.C. elevation of 1,192 feet. These pilgrims originally came from Bohemia and Moravia, neighboring provinces in what is now the Czech Republic." http://moravianfalls.org/aboutmoravianfalls.html I am pondering this for a moment, but I do believe that this wheel is probably the biggest we have seen on a mill yet?? That needs to go down in our "record books", don't ya think?? (Be sure to check out that link above, a lot of fun information about this beauty ...so cool. Love learning, don't you??!!??!) It amazes me how something like this can just be sitting there on the side of the road and all you need to do is stop and check it out. What awesomeness ...way cool!! RIGHT?? Love it. Look at the wheel. Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you are well. Ta
