Amelia Island Lighthouse, Florida

Amelia Island Lighthouse,
Address: 215 Lighthouse Circle, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034

The Amelia Island Lighthouse is the oldest existing
lighthouse in the state of Florida.

From our understanding it is a private residence and not open to the public, it is in a well gated area, u figure that one out??! ...what I'll never get about these historical locations in this world, why are they private, apparently Florida, sold this lighthouse, U SOLD IT? really??! I would think if you did in fact sell it ..maybe state that u have to allow your visitors to still have the chance to see it .. takes some pics ...something??! Seems so silly, dumb even. They have to know that the public wants to visit and take pics??! They just have to? RIGHT??! but there is no way to get a great shot, unless u have a super powerful camera ... it is just not cool! I got a white bird ...bird people what kind is that? I noticed it when I was preparing these pics for this post ... didn't even see it when I was taking the shot?? How cool is that!!!!??! I just found another shot of the lighthouse, that I took on another day and got from a totally different viewpoint .. so awesome!! I wonder why it looks like it is leaning??! weird, huh??! Thank you for stopping by today. Hope you did enjoy your visit. Thank you for your comments and friendship. ENJOY YOUR DAY!! Be Well & Be Blessed!! Beth ( ;

That is strange that the state would sell off property like that and then not allow you to get close enough for pictures. The bird could be some kind of Egret or Ibis.Hard the tell from this distance.

Seems like the state should have kept it since it is the oldest one. My guess on the bird is egret.

Hello,

It is a shame the lighthouse is private. It is beautiful. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!

Maybe the light house belonged to a private family from the beginning...

Kayaking it

We really lucked out to go kayaking on this trip while we were staying at Davy Crockett State Park, TN. So you know ... I have yet to fall out of my kayak .... KNOCK ON WOOD ... knock on your head ...whatever!! My hubby this kayaking trip slipped once going into this kayak right off the bat and then the kayaking completely flipped over ...it was a real COLD adventure ...fun but so so cold. & our camping friends ...who don't go kayaking often were wanting to help the hubby but I had it under control ...I had water come up and over the kayak ... I am guessing that would be a good reason to have a skirt on your kayak. Wonder if I could do that on my kind of kayak? Not sure ...but it was so so cold. We made it back all in one piece.

So fun!! Harley Davidson made bikes, not just Harleys??! Who knew? So many creators, just so so much history. Are you a history buff, I don't remember all these dates, maybe you could or can?
