Nez Perce National Historical Park, Idaho

"Nez Perce National Historical Park", Idaho ...normally without the forest fires I am for sure it is a gorgeous national park. Hope we will have a chance to get there again soon when that is the case. I wanted to share views, even with the smoke just so you got the visual of what it was looking like. so so hazy. breathing was tough, all you could smell was smoke. we did stop in the visitor center & even inside there you could smell the smoke. it was crazy wild.

Forest fires going on out in the west... Washington, Idaho, Oregon (I might be forgetting a few states, but it was wild how the winds would carry the smoke so easily.) ...the hubby & I were so worried that our trip would be ruined. (there always seems to be something, floods in Texas, forest fires, wind storms, mud slides, we are always so worried for the states we go to, it seems so unfair. We have never been to Washington or Oregon, so the trip was set & campground were booked months in advance. I have 2 states left in my USA been there done that list, Hawaii & Alaska are my last 2. here's hoping I can make it happen before I'm 45?, or even sooner before my big 40?) Beth ( :

Hello Beth, the wildfires are scary. Washington and Oregon are beautiful states, especailly the coastlines. I remember seeing some fires while we were in Yellowstone. I loved both Hawaii and Alaska. We missed a lot of Alaska with our trip being a cruise and not being able to see much during our time there. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

Beth, ah, to be planning to visit places "before the big 40". We have also traveled throughout the US, but am still missing a few states in the Northwest. We are thinking of a driving vacation this summer, but haven't decided for sure as yet. Washington and Oregon are on the list. So sad to see the fires. Have a good week.

oooooh beth, you are quite young and have traveled to so many places, good for you!!! my niece lived in alaska and she just loved it, her pictures were always amazing!!!

wild fires, so sad...even sadder when started by a tossed cigarette or a campfire left to put itself out. we have had a lot of controlled burns here in new jersey and the smell really takes over the air!!!! i must admit, i am not much of a camper!!!

It is sad to see the fires destroying what was once a beautiful area.I hate to see people affected by this and also all the wildlife that is hurt or maybe even worse.

yeah, that looks like it was very bad! woo hoo on the last two remote states to go!
Such a shame that you couldn't see more, I am sure that it would have been beautiful! xx

This is one place I'd love to see. Strangely I haven't been in Idaho.

Point Lookout State Park, Maryland & area lighthouses

Where we stayed: Point Lookout State Park, Maryland

Fort Lincoln, located within Point Lookout State Park. The only original part that is still at the location is the white barrier wall, all buildings are new, I guess the weather and winds are rough on fort.

Here is a vlog from that day of the sunset view from the state park & a coastline view from Fort Lincoln. I can so see why the fort was so in needs of repair, the winds there are so violent.

I will say that Maryland has pretty tough lighthouses to get to up close, usually you can get better shots, instead of through fences and all that jazz, but at least you can sort of see them? RIGHT??! Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you are well. Enjoy these views. Plan a trip soon, such a gorgeous area of Maryland. Beth  ( :

Grayson Highlands State Park & VA Creep Trail, Virginia

I was going to do 2 separate posts for this camping trip but it was only very quick weekend trip back in July of this year. Enjoy the vlogs from that day. We had a ball, such a great trip!!
1st part was our hike on Wilburn Ridge. 2nd day was our bike trip on the VA Creeper Trail. I think one of the most uncomfortable parts of the trip is riding in a huge van with people you have not a clue who they are... you just know that you are going to all be riding the trail. They van you up the mtn & you bike back to Damascus, VA. It is a 17 mile bike trip. Very easy. Not too much work at all.
One of our favorite state parks to camp at in VA is "Grayson Highlands State Park". We love this area 'cause you have the opportunity to bike the "Virginia Creeper Trail". Yes, we did make another hike adventure to "Wilburn Ridge". If you click each those names it will take you to our previous trip back in 2015. We took this trip in July of this year. What we love ab…
